With the growing number of BOINC projects, manually updating clients (so WUs upload/report, as well as return the latest credit info) is taking longer and longer. Currently, one has to right click and select "Update (retry now)" on each project in order to get it to happen.

A global update mechanism (perhaps an option when you right click elsewhere [as in not on one of your projects ;)] in the Projects tab) would be very handy to reduce the time to get BOINC to update all projects.

Manual updating isn't necessary. Just leave it alone and it works just fine automatically.

It works especially well if you use a modest cache setting, such as 1 - 2 days. This way it is asking for work often enough that it keeps things slim and trim. A projects stats/pref settings are updated and any completed work is reported daily.

Continually using the manual update feature only creates more server bog.

I realize that manual updating isn't a nesscesity, but I still find myself doing it from time to time. I usually do it when I want to know my latest stats instead of what they were. Since the only way to know this information is to have the client update, I am forced to run a manual update (since I've got at least a few WUs ready to report since the last automatic update) for each project. Having a global update feature would make it a lot easier to do this, since I wouldn't have to click on each of the several projects to get the latest info.

Your account page for each project shows your totals.

Not if the WUs are uploaded but not reported. The online totals are only slightly better than the ones in the BOINC client.

All results must be verified against 2 other WUs (S@H) before credit is granted. Reporting a result starts this process, but it can be weeks before the other results are returned. What you see on the Web page is as close as you are going to get. The pending page shows (if it is ever reactivated) the results that you have reported that have not yet been verified.
