I've got a HT machine with Seti and Climate Predictor set up in a 10:1 ratio. Yesterday, the preemption seemed to work. Today, even though BOINC has been running for six hours, BOINC hasn't switched (if it does hour-long blocks, and since there are in effect two processors, then there should be a switch about every five hours by my calculations (2 processors × 5 hours = 10 chunks of time). Am I wrong? How are things really determined? |

irzyxel, Don't forget that a CP WU is massive compared to a SETI WU; CP units take 400-800 HOURS to crunch, so it should be at a significantly lower percent. Also, to prevent re calculating the same bits twice in CP, set "Leave suspended tasks in memory" to "True", or else you lose everyhting after the last check point... Feel free to take a look inside my brain |
