What a mess is this BOINC. Find life in the universe? With this technology? I quit the whole SETI.

And the reason you stopped by to tell us about your decision is.....?
Are you even here to read the replies? If so then why did you say you quit but then stayed around, if not then what was the whole point of the conversation?!

Bet he feels kinda stupid now, especially with the 'possible' detection of 'something' out there!

Even if it turns out to be nothing, it sure refreshes all those old feelings I had when I first started crunching!

That, "Maybe the next WU *will* be the one....."

Wonder how many whiners/quiters will suddenly rejoin now too?

i can't believe all the whining...seti is science...it's not something that is going to be perfectly predictable...if finding ET was easy, it would have happened long ago...for those who are crying over lost credit...keep in mind. we're all in the same boat...when a new technology is introduced there are bound to be problems...and we have access to this stuff while it's still brand new...so it's kind of exciting to follow the progress that's being made fixing the multiple glitches that have dogged BOINC since it's introduction...the only way to find out how the thing was really going to work was to put the system on-line...the only way to fix problems that arise is take it off line...this too is science...annoying to many...but an essential part of any attempt to improve seti@home...i am thrilled to be able to be a part of soemthing so new...that it's still a bit wobbly...i would of course appreciate more detailed accounts of what's going on...but even without the information i crave, i still think that all this trouble is worthwhile...trial and error can bug the hell out of you...but you're not gonna get off the schematic and into reality without it.
