Considering I have about 20 Zenith Transoceanic's and other old Shortwave
radios in various stages of disrepair in my back room, yes second hand would be correct....LOL

I built a cats whisker radio, in the late 50's, got Luxembourg 208 no problem.



'catscratch' that thar crystal eh - i built many of dem dar 2 ('57)- loved it when the World got excited 'bout the one, two & three Transistor Radios bit - i built many of dem due . . . even Listened to Jupiter on 'bigger' Halicrafter's later on . . . great 'drone effect' (sound) - something that would be funny ta put as a sound byte - every time one Posts (snickrr)

I have two Halicrafter' Shortwaves in my collection...


i fergit which 'frequency' it's on - BUT you can still "Listen" to Jupiter with them (IF they still work)

PS - my grandfather (mum's side) gave me his 'Lab' - in his basement and the 'Tubes' there were slightly taller than i was and the Power Supplies - well - they were pretty darn big too . . . had fun buildin' Tesla Coils and 'wreakin' havoc on everyone's TV Sets - UNTIL the FCC came in and informed me - i would have to STOP - there were 'snowflakes' "flutterin' on every TV Set within a couple of miles , , , eh, let's see - where are those Plans again - hmmmmmmmmmmmmm
