What goes on 'out there' is one thing, but what is wanted 'here' in this board is another. It's not about agreeing a definition of what can be seen where, it's about what is, and is not, wanted 'here' - by those that set the agenda here, in this place, defined as the SETI@Home Cafe.

That is why I made the remark above.
I don't want to see prurient stuff here ... but that is NOT the nub of the argument.
There already is NOTHING here to excite or deviate young minds ...
It is just that some people take matters to the n-th degree ... and try drip-by-drip to
further erode the freedoms of expression that have been won over many decades in
furtherance of the greatest scourge of modern times ... Political Correctness.

Why would we need pictures of women in bathing suits posted all over a science forum? I mean..I can understand the necessity of feeding a baby...but pictures of women in bathing suits doesn't strike me as something that we need here in the cafe...especially as it's rather degrading to women.

it disturbing that a member here should use the image of a child as his avater.
There is something disturbing about this.
This is my personal view ... though I do not expect to be trampled underfoot by supporters.

It's why having a cordinator like knightmare might help - to provide some consistency and cohesion in the moderation team.

I said need because Brainsmashr was comparing breast feeding to posting pictures on a message board. Which I don't think are equitable at all.
