Why doesn't BOINC keep running the current work unit after another program is running? I have my BOINC program set to run always but any program that starts after BOINC shuts of the work unit until I close the program. This makes it take longer to process the work unit than necessary. I have plenty of memory to keep any program running and I do not like that BOINC just stops working on a work unit if I open another program when I have the resources to keep working on it. Please make the run always option work like it did in the classic program some of us really do want the program to work on the work units all the time 24/7. >"Do work while computer in use"?? Yes I do have this selected. |

BOINC does keep running when you open another program. (assuming your preferences are set to do so...) BOINC is an idle priority application, so it will only use CPU cycles that aren't being used by another application. If BOINC stops while you are running an application, it means that this particular application is using all (or most) of the available cycles, and there are none for BOINC to utilize. If you change this priority, you will see slowdowns while running other applications. |
