BILL ON ILLEGAL DOMESTIC SPYING (Petition) NSA spying program Stop Unlawful Government Spying on U.S. Citizens Dear [Congress member], As your constituent, I strongly urge you to oppose any attempts to rubberstamp the president's illegal and unconstitutional warrantless NSA spying program. Any White House-endorsed bills to rubberstamp the president's warrantless spying on Americans are like the Patriot Act on steroids. They authorize more warrantless domestic surveillance on Americans than has ever been approved by Congress in our nation's history, even though a federal court has already found such programs unconstitutional and illegal. The NSA bill would fly in the face of the America we believe in -- an America that strives to live up to the promise of our Constitution and that governs with faithfulness toward the rule of law. If it is passed, America will become a very different place from the "land of the free" that all of us hold in our hearts. We can protect civil liberties and fight terrorism at the same time. You have the duty to keep our great nation both safe and free by blocking legislation that undermines the Constitution, our American values, and our freedom. The program is a targeted foreign national surveillance program. The people who are monitored are those who have contact with known enemies of the United States. We are at war. People here who contact our enemies are of vital interest and knowledge of what they say to the enemy saves lives both here and abroad.

I think we have all had the fleeting thought of killing someone at some points in our lives for something that happened. The difference is that most of us IMMEDIATELY put that thought out of our heads and move on with our lives. Terrorists let that though fester and grow until something happens. How do we find those people that let that thought fester and grow? I am not sure there is a fail-safe way to do that. If we agree on that, then we must also assume that some people are going to be spyed upon that are not terrorists. Some people have had the thought and moved on but somehow our 'profile' didn't kick them out and we spy on them thinking they are letting the thought fester and grow, when in fact it is not. I do not like that idea, but do not know how to prevent it. I AM for spying on everyone fitting the 'profile', I just would like the 'profile' narrowed down so innocent people are not included. If it is narrowed that far, how many terrorists get missed? Is this another program that will be found out later to be mismanaged and run amok by Politicians with an agenda? ____________

Just could'nt keep Cheeney (Dick) under control! <grin> If you are referring to former President Clinton you are sadly mistaken in your assessment of his presidency. The US economy was in the midst of a serious recession when he left office, you may want to investigate events the Baltic and Slavic areas in Eastern Europe before you claim no wars and the US population was more polarized that at any time in the last century.
