Hey folks,

I notice the Pending Credits & Results info on the Account page still don't return anything for me. I've been travelling a few weeks and am still getting back in local mode, so it's quite possible I missed announcements regarding this over the past month or so, but my first searches on the SETI BOINC pages don't return any results relating to this issue. Can anyone enlighten me, or point me in the right directions?

Thanks,

Hey Richard,
I am sure by now you have looked over several of the posts on this message board. Boinc has had it's share of problems, and the biggest problem we shared as colunteers, was the lack of Info from Admin. Rom has really been more than helpful trying to explain alot of the problems to us. The system has been down repeatedly/ As I write this post the servers are down again, do to a Snap Appliance Failure. As the homepage states it might be down until tomorrow morning when they can do a "Hard Boot".
I hope your time away was enjoyable, I am sure you will find these message boards, very entertaining to say the least.

Hopefully tommorrow you will be able to receive some WUWU's and get back in the saddle "So to speak".

Happy Crunching

Regards,

Rocky

Thanks, Rocky. Clearly, the SETI/BOINC team have had their hands full, and my issue is definitely low priority. As a one-time developer, I can imagine what it must be like on the project.

I have indeed been getting new 4.x WUs, and I seem to be cranking away on these fine, so I do seem to be helping the science move forward, which is the real goal, eh? (I'd rather see the team's efforts go to keeping the project as productive as possible.)

I was just curious, because I was getting these same "not available" messages earlier this summer, and they were still happening. So I was wondering, had these services been down all along? Or are they sometimes up, except, just my luck, when I try checking? ;-) Mostly, I was trying to get the info for comparative purposes. I want to see how much work my machine gets done, and under what circumstances.

Richard,
It started being down, 2 days, then 4 then almost a week. It was up for a day and went down for a week, then it came back sporatically until it went down hard before the transition to Boinc 4.05. Yes they have had their share of problems. Best guess is the all aspects of the system was up about 25% of the time in the last 30days. Of course this does not include 'Pending Credit, Or Results View" because they have been down quite a while. I wold omagine that if they get this Sanp Appliance working in sync with the rest of the program , everything will start back up.

Regards,

Rocky

Originally, they turned off both of those features due to the drain they placed on the system. If I recall, they caused the schedulers to slow down to a very low level. Until we start seeing all the software bugs and hardware problems resolved, I don't think we shall see them turned back on.
