I must say Molgao, I am from Ireland and i just joined the other day. I was and have been suspicious of this project from day one. I also have been running ideas through my head about what information i am processing on my computer.

The way i see it, and the Irish government have never been in conflict with your country so i am neutral, is if you have information on your hard drive that might be sensitave, dont use that computer.

At worst, along with 500,000 other fools, you might be helping the amercian goverment. At best you might be following a truely Great Human endevour.

I hope this isn't serious. SETI was founded by people the CIA was probably watching back then. Check the Web site of the Planetary Society which is sponsoring the search if you need more comfort. This is an international project that does not have a place of earth politics. That is why I joined.

Take a look at the words of the two main Political Parties and see how much even the Lawmakers can control anything. Every day they are screaming about something the other Party did! Compile the current source, and you still get credit as the results verify against other results from other clients that do not have self compiled code.

There is one project that existed for a while that was very worrisome. Anyone remember "Shoft"? It was run out of Russia, and they were very evasive about what they were doing.
