Seti & CIA

Often when i invite new people to project i hear the point of view that it is CIA or other US government project that isn't looking for ET, but do something else, i saw no formulas, algorithms and scientific reports in licensed scientific literature but see only how many credits everybody done. I'm new user (about 3000 credits) and if you don't convict me of that SETI is definately seti, the system may lose me as a member (perspective member ;) This message is not a joke. Definately i can't make a choise to be or not to be with seti.

Let's run with it...


If you beleive that something is being processed, then look at how the data is handed to us.

A) Is it a communication? NO... Then would it be a reason for it to be secret?

B) Is it a communication? Yes...

If security was important, then they would want to mask the data. From that assumption, then how is it masked? Looking at the data, we can easily see that we only process a snipet of time; a snapshot in time. When I think of communication, I think of a span of time. So, really, we can see none of the time lapses, not with BOINC anyhow. Previously, we had some control. Many people had add ons that would allow them to download several units at a time. I did... It would download chunks of time because it would grab a slice of data from the tapes and cut it up as it passed it to you. So the previous experiences tell us that there are data tapes with that's being processed. I personnally had a couple of these chunks of time that produced results just before they enforced the usage of BOINC for all. You can see what I wrote about it previously here: Intelligence found?

The only conspiracy idea that I can come up with would be that they are looking for communications on earth. Jumbled data to encrypt communications would be difficult to decipher. A truly random system would be to pass the key as well. I you have the key then you can make the right subtractions from the signal and decode it. It may not be as obvious as to listening to a signal. One brute force approach would be to match the signal with the key. To do that, you would have to record everything. Then take a slice of one signal and relate it to another signal over time. In this case, matches would, on our machines, create spikes. The resulting slice of time would be different though. It would appear as erratic waveforms for voices and perhaps irregular patterns for data. In my case, it was a regular (Not Irragular) pattern.

We are only processing one frequency. I guess this is an assumption. Someone should actully check this for confirmation. This particular endeavor would be completely useless, in my knowledge, to track human activities partially because of the wavelength that it is.

Either way, I'm not trasmitting anything. If it may keep me safe, then I'd help. Even if it's 3 years too late because we're processing old data. LOL. But then again, it could be accumilating data on people that I don't disagree with. If they are looking for aliens, then I'd help. Which this is what I beleive. I fully beleive that this is data from a dish pointed at the sky.

Considering how quickly games and OSs get hacked, I would have thought that by now, some nerd somewhere would find inconsistancies.

I hope this isn't serious. SETI was founded by people the CIA was probably watching back then. Check the Web site of the Planetary Society which is sponsoring the search if you need more comfort. This is an international project that does not have a place of earth politics. That is why I joined.
