Your experience fails you. My experience exposes you... And that really ticks you off... doesn't it? ;) It may not be 1984 but George Orwell sure did see the future . . . |

Your experience fails you. Not at all, why should it? You never make an argument, therefore your comments are easily dismissed. Cordially, Rush elrushbo2@theobviousgmail.com Remove the obvious... |

Question, Is it allowed for political type poems to be posted into this thread? As long as they have a political theme? 'No one can make you inferior without your consent.' Eleanor Roosevelt. |

Post whatever you'd like. "I think that the first people who should read this book are our brothers and sisters in the United States because their threat is in their own house. The devil is right at home. The devil, the devil himself is right in the house. And the devil came here yesterday. Yesterday the devil came here. Right here. Right here. And it smells of sulfer still today. This table that I am now standing in front of, yesterday ladies and gentlemen, from this rostrum, the President of the United States, the gentleman to whom I refer as ‘the devil’ came here talking as if he owned the world. Truly as the owner of the world. I think we can call a psychiatrist to analyze yesterday’s statement made by the President of the United States. As the spokesman of imperialism he came to share his nostrums. To try to preserve the current pattern of domination, exploitation and pillage of the peoples of the world. An Alfred Hitchcock movie could use it as a scenario. I would even propose a title, ‘The Devil’s Recipe’. As Chomsky says here clearly and in depth, the American Empire is doing all it can to consolidate its hegemonistic system of domination and we can not allow them to do that. We can not allow a world dictatorship to be consolidated." ~ Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez From what I've witnessed during the past 5-10 years, he may be right... ;) It may not be 1984 but George Orwell sure did see the future . . . |

Emperors of the Island A political parable to be read aloud. There is a story of a deserted island where five men walked down to the bay. The story of this island is that three men would two men slay. Three men dug two graves in the sand, three men stood on the sea wet rock, three shadows moved away. There is a story of a deserted island where three men walked down to the bay. The story of this island is that two men would one man slay. Two men dug one grave in the sand, two men stood on the sea wet rock, two shadows moved away. There is a story of a deserted island where two men walked down to the bay. The story of this island is that one man would one man slay. One man dug one grave in the sand, one man stood on the sea wet rock, one shadow moved away. There is a story of a deserted island where four ghosts walked down to the bay. The story of this island is that four ghosts would one man slay. Four ghosts dug one grave in the sand, four ghosts stood on the sea wet rock; five ghosts moved away. Damnie Abse. 'No one can make you inferior without your consent.' Eleanor Roosevelt. |

Emperors of the Island Hi Bill, I am still perusing over it myself, trying to understand it. But I like it so much I just had to include it on this thread. I think it has some deeper meaning I can't yet grasp. 'No one can make you inferior without your consent.' Eleanor Roosevelt. |

Emperors of the Island Good! I was thinking that this was one of those times where some perfectly tranparent prose went right over my head. Please let me know what you come up with, because I am drawing a total blank. And you're right, it is certainly lyrical and has a ring to it. |
