I have 2 workunits that appear to be exactly the same except for the ending numbers which I was under the impression was for "Recycling" The numbers are:

04my04aa.2277.7648.559642.233
04my04aa.2277.7648.559642.233_6_0

The top one is 353KB and the second one is 10kb.
The only reason I noticed was because my system kept hanging while it was crunching and I had to exit and open 3 times before it started processing again.

It's probably some sort of error but it is still weird.

Regards,

Rocky

This is the wu you've downloaded to crunch.

> 04my04aa.2277.7648.559642.233_6_0

This is your result, either partially crunched or waiting for upload.

The _6_0 means it's the 7th time this wu has been assigned to someone. Normally these are _0, _1 and _2, but if someone didn't return before their deadline, or wrong/error more "results" is made and distributed to someone.

The last _0 is AFAIK added then there's only 1 result-file to upload for a result, atleast CPDN has 5 result-files to upload and has numbered their with _1 _2 _3 _4 _5...

So this is normal behaviour in BOINC, and nothing to worry about. :)

The reason I had concern is because in my Windows Explorer under program files, in the Boinc program, I click on the "projects" and open "Setiathome folder. All the awaiting WU's to crunch and all the exe and pdb files are found here. In this section is where the WU's were duplicated as stated above. It is the only one out of 121 WU's that are exactly the same except for the last numbers. One has crunched already the second one has 5 WU's ahead of it. If this is a common Boinc issue, how come it is not on more WU's or is it a complete fluke.
Thanks for the reply and Happy Crunching.

The result-file is automatically uploaded then the wu is finished, and if successful upload the result-file is deleted, so normally only on the currently crunching wu will you see this "duplicate" file. :)
