I was thinking...as a team founder it would be great to get an email when someone joined my team or left my team.

Pain in the butt trying to keep track.

Mike,
I have to laugh, being a shipmate, you should know that (being in the Navy) we're supposed work harder, not smarter. LOL But I agree with you, it would be a really nice feature for those who are team leaders.

Good luck for your request. It seems easy enough to make it a mod for the system.

Steve

One could get the source, modify it as wanted, and ask to have the update checked in...

Michael,

the forum code is part of the BOINC code.

The html/ subdir inside the BOINC sources is where it's at.

HTH,
Simon.

Well, that feature DOES sound nice... But unless there are safeguards put into place to limit the number of team joins and departures per time period that a single account can do, it looks like it could be abused as another way to fill up someone's email box mighty quick. I somehow doubr that UCB (or any other institution or person running a BOINC project) would want to risk becomming a 'spammer'. In my opinion, this needs to be carefully thought out before being implemented.

Don't blame me, I voted for Johnson(L) in 2016.

Truth is dangerous... especially when it challenges those in power.

Another issue with this would be the number of teams where the founder is long gone, or where the team founder doesn't care to get notified. If implemented, there should be an opt-in function so the founder could positively request the notification, not have it automatically happen.

This is true, and I would be willing to opt-in/out as I desire.

With that many users it's hard to see who joined or who left...PLUS, it is also hard when someone joins up on the US NAVY forum, I have to go search through my team names and see if it is a legit account.

Do you perhaps have a link to the source tree?

Michael,

this page lists how to get access to current BOINC sources.

CVS is my preferred way to grab them. Since the code (also the portal code) is often updated, it's also the easiest way to keep your code copy current.

Regards,
Simon.
