	I want to find out why my system is acting weird. it is running on a dedicated computer and was working fine until two days ago now it wont talk to the server. it says limit of 3 daily quota?? also it keeps deferring the communications. and all of the last 40 WU come up with Client ERROR, What in the world is gooing on and how can i talk to someone directly about the program and not just put question on the darn forum???? Any help would be appreciated ____________

Any help would be appreciated There are plenty of people around here who could probably help but they'll need a lot more info: computer, OS, BOINC version, error messages... etc. By the way if you're using a mac it's probably the shared memory problem - in which case a reboot will fix it temporarily but it will recur periodically if your computer runs 24-7. A more permanent fix requires a change in shared memory allocation. Robert ____________

Any help would be appreciated First the dev don't have the personnel nor time to provide personal help to over 150,000 users. The forums are your best source of help. It would be helpful if you could unhid your computer (not a security risk - see mine by clicking on my name on the left) so we can see what error code is happening. 	This software is engineered by approximately six people. Aside from programming this software, they have many other tasks with which take up all their time. This isn't like your typical software manufacturer where you have a person-to-person tech support. If those six people tried helping the hundreds of thousands of people on BOINC, they'd have no time to have a life. They simply do not have the time to hand-walk many people through their problems with the software (although they are constantly trying to improve the software to cut down on problems people are having with it). Knowing this, and knowing people still need help, they created this software so the community could help each other. It's not like you're getting lesser quality help just because it isn't someone from Berkeley. Just wanted to address that part of your question since Robert addressed the actual problem you're having already. ____________

I don't see any problems in your message log other then the daily WU limit. Any messages when WU is completed and uploaded?

	Your computers are visible to us now. You have a lot of failed work units that failed with a -108 error. With each failed work unit you are restricted in how many more work units you can download. This is now down to 3 per day from a normal 100. Bad news is you already have your 3 for today. I suggest that you perform a detatch and re-atatch to the Seti project. It will be approximately 4 more hours (Time 00:00:00 UTC) until your computer will be allowed to download more work. Each time you return to Seti a completed work unit that validates correctly your limit will be doubled. Such as from 3 per day to 6 per day, 6 per day to 12 per day. Once you have the problem corrected it will not take long to have the limit back to 100 per day. After the detatch and re-attatch your account may show another new computer but you should be able to merge it with the old one. Good luck! ____________ Boinc....Boinc....Boinc....Boinc....

	The "-108" error you're getting is described in the Wiki as: The file is "open" and in use by another process, or write access to the file cannot be obtained. Error Codes There's a gap in the send dates of the work showing for your computer. In that gap, did something change about the system you're on? It looks to me like BOINC don't have write-access to all the folders it needs to operate. Geek@Play's tips are good for getting you going quickly, but this problem needs to be resolved or you'll just see a lot more compute errors again. MJ ____________
