I need some help here. One of my co-workers says this is a hornet...I disagree based on the size and total lack of aggression, but don't have any idea what it is. Here's a brief description of what we know: Picture taken in Northwest Louisiana About 2.5-3 inches long. Between the size of a dime or nickel in diameter No visible stinger Was by itself Did not see a nest Totally UNaggressive. 1.jpg 2.jpg 3.jpg 4.jpg 5.jpg 6.jpg 7.jpg 8.jpg 9.jpg |

But was it giving you funny looks? --------- I don't recall ever seeing anything like that with those stripes on it's body. |

Tough call. Obviously it "looks" tough, but I actually captured it in a jar before taking these pics but released it because those pictures looked crappy....didn't even bother to fly away....just buzzed around a bit then went back to the same bush. Not once did it try to attack me or even make me think it was being aggressive. In fact, it really acted as though I was no threat at all.... |

Bugs, Bugging or just being Buggy is a sort of specialty of mine. However the intended result is that I am bumped up to Nuisance from Troll Follower. It has not met with success. |

Keep working at it.....I didn't even make the damned list...I've disappointed myself yet again. I think I'm going to start stocking up on sleeping pills. |
