I know this site is still a work in progress (navigation needs work), but I was hoping to find more data on how the new work units differ from the old ones: spectrum, length of recording, etc.

From what I've seen of the new client, my PC is flying through the one it started on (when compared to old S@H, same machine).

Same data, different client? Different data and client?

Maybe I just missed it?

Both. Same data and different data on a different client. :)

Could be better written code in the new client...making better use of your machine.

Could be different sized work unit.

Could be one of the new 8 bit work units from the new tapes. If it is 8 bit, your computer would never have seen one before.

Also, some WUs have too many spikes in their data and so are processed very quickly (a few minutes for the entire WU).

And don't be fooled. It will slow down drastically when it gets to about 50%. Ultimately, it will take roughly the same amount of time to do a work unit here as it took on Seti classic.
