I can't download a workunit. Every time it contacts the server, I get this message: SETI@home - 2004-06-24 19:23:12 - Message from server: Not sending work - last RPC too recent: 13 sec What's that about? |

It means that the server doesn't want to hear from your client quite so often. If you keep hitting "Update", you'll keep getting that message. Let it sit for 10 minutes or so before you try again. |

> RPC stands for Remote Proceedure Call. > jm7 > Many modern programmers understand this, but there are many SETI users that don't fit that discription.. Tell them in simple terms "it means last time you tried to contact the server, the server said that you'd just tried 13 seconds ago, and the server won't pay attention for 2 minutes (or whatever)" The folks that would understand "Remote Procedure Call" also understand RPC. Gosh, do you think that you have a clue on how to deal with end users? And Yes, I was probably doing RPC calls while you were in grade school! Chimps with Keyboards........... |

The previous poster had already answered the other part of the question, and the first poster DID ask. I didn't figure that many would understand the answer, but then again there is no such thing as a stupid question. |

Why did you bother to reply with techie terms unless you just wanted to increase your "post count"? You already said the question had been answered! |
