I just recieved this from Crunch3r, everyone...

Hi Daniel,

i think it's time that berkeley gets something to think about. Let's do it, we're on strike now.
I allready resetted most of of my machines and dettached from seti all wus went to garbage pail.
I'm now running einstein on them and joined SETI.USA.

Because of the present climate here at Seti, specifically the alienation and vilification of this projects volunteers, we have decided to go on Strike for a period of ONE WEEK, in support of Crunch3r. The level of participation will vary, depending upon each participant’s desire. Some of us will simply disable our network access. Others, I understand, are going to detach from the project entirely, and either join other projects, or simply shut their machines down.

Our team (SETI.USA) is organizing a work stoppage @Seti for a week effective 00:00 UTC 6/5/06 due to latest developments at seti, including what has happened w/Crunch3r. We are asking for your support.

Thanks for your time!

Being as the UCB was the focal point of the "Free Speech" Movement back in the '60's, I trust that they will understand this, and NOT CENSOR or delete this post, but rather make it a "Sticky".

Regards, Daniel.

For those with "green stars", in preferences, you may also be able to specify that they be hidden (so I understand).

Hide them if you can! You may need to contact the admins for this, but do so!

And so it begins...

Already pulled the trigger on my end. Disconnected from SETI yesterday.

It also seems to make sense that no one donate $1 to seti during the boycott.

This is not only cash donations, but also buying anything from the Seti Store.

Why would he intentionally trash the results he had though? That strains any sympathy I may have had with the guy.

I want them to see my green star. I want them to know that a lot of those protesting have donated money to the project!

What are you babbling about?

Who is "he"?

Do you have your "Seti can do no wrong" hat on again? Please take it off, and post something that makes sense!

Good to see you again, Woody. I see your mom reconnected your internet after she took it away for missing curfew last weekend.

That could be, but also understand that by many "green stars" going away, they'll understand how many people are behind this.

Volunteering for SETI is about helping scientists look for exraterrestrial signals. The credit system and the recent issue with Crunch3r's client have nothing to do with that. So by "striking" you're hurting SETI's goals.

I see a blank post. So who is "he"?

You've still not posted something that makes sense!

I would suggest putting certain posters on "ignore" status now - especially irrelavant ones.

Damn! I cannot believe I'm about to say this, but.... You made a post in the ".... conspiracy" thread that, uh, er, ahem, I agreed with. There, I said it, got it out, feel better....

Think about this for a minute or 2. If people continue to display their little green star and yet disconnect their network access to SETI, would that not send the message you believe not showing it would send? Just a thought. Damn, I cannot believe I'm actually discussing this with you instead of shooting your idea down.... \\-:<

My freaking God. Get over it. You have no life and dont even deserve to be crunching for Seti. You obviously forgot the point of this project. The point is the science. Cruch3r left and it was his decision. The whole cheating thing is ridiculous in itself. Its for a F@$king credit. What does having credit make people feel special or something. Ya there nice to have as a measure of how much youve done but its still just a credit. It doesnt really matter. What matters is the science. Yea I liked Crunch3r too, hes pretty cool and all making those optimized apps and helping all of us at Seti but if he wants to leave its his decision. Stop being such a drama queen and shutup because organizing strikes is only hurting this project. I love the way some people complain about people who work their butts off to keep seti running. Real nice. Show some respect.
