Hi! I'm running on a Pentium 4 Mobile (XP Pro SP2)Boinc with multiple apps (SETI, EINSTEIN, WORLDCOMMUNITY). I have noted at times that BOINC MANAGER (5.4.9)shows an app (eg SETI-enhanced) as running but the times do not change. I then see that my PC Clock has stopped. I check task manager and the setihome is not running! Other than fixing my PC Clock battery (not an easy task with a laptop), any suggestions? BESTEST! |

Do you run the system on the battery and not the wall outlet part of the time? If so stop, leave the laptop plugged in and you will not care about the internal battery until you turn it off. |

Thanks for your reply. What you say is true - but . . . I do run plugged in, and on starting up the machine I have to reset the clock to the current time, as the time shown is when I shut down. However, while working, plugged in, the clock sometimes stops and even resets back a few hours! This results in the VPM I use when working remotely stopping and the BOINC application stopping. BOINC Manager shows it running, but the timers don't move, yest when I do An alt-cntl-del, the setihome (or whatever) task is not running. My hope is that this means the clock battery is still working intermittently, and when it finally fails the problem will disappear. I have also turned off the Internet Time Updater to simplify matters. Anything I can do to ensure that the BOINC applications continue to run even if the clock stops? BESTEST! |
