Message 17662 - Posted: 26 Aug 2004, 2:23:00 UTC

I just de-installed my SpySweeper as I found out that there were traces of spyware in my registry database and installed SpyBot instead. Now I have 2 WU failed downloads. Does anybody knows if there are any connection with this??? My firewall is granting full access for BOINC, so there should be no interference there.

Does anybody experience the same problem?

I've got 5 work units that failed to download tonite. I don't know why. I don't use Spy anything. They're just sitting there on my "transfer" window, and keep trying to download. They don't try for more than a second before giving the message "Retry in ???????"

This probably doesn't help

Thanks for your answer. It actually helps a lot because knowing that my download fails are not the only ones tells me that it is maybe a coincidence between my changing ad-aware programs and downloading.

Excuse me for my bad english. It's very late night here in Denmark and I'm heading for bed soon!

Thanks again!!! :-)))

I have the same problem on my two computers, so it cannot be your fault.
They must have a server problem ( again)...

I have 4 units that are doing the same. It's strange that they don't really try for more than a second or 2 and then pop up with the retry message

Maybe the servers are preparing for transition to BOINC 4.x?

I have stopped the splitters.

They are generating bad url locations for where to download the workunit from.

For those who end up being assigned one of these workunits hang tight with them until we figure out how we are going to clean these up.

Thanks

Should I email Dr Dave for an explaination of this? Seem it was only today's bump in the road! (AKA, Why WU's got lost this week!)

Thanks for the info Rom, but this whole project is becoming "the 3 stooges find ET"! Nothing seems to work for more than a day!

You guys are all very lucky. I havent been able to get any wu for quite a while.
Lots of Predictor !!
Im not to smart so far as computers are concerned so maybe Im doing something wrong. Although I use to get wu on a regular basis. Have seti at 95% and Predictor at 5
When I do update I get
-"sending request to scheduler http" etcetc
-"scheduler rpc to http" etcetc

and thats it !

Just keep waiting I guess ??

Wow, it seems to never get boring with BOINC and SETI; there is always a new reason for failure and trouble ;-)
Thanks to Rom for his explanation of what happened. I was almost starting to blame my modem for not being able to download a new WU. At least I was lucky enough to have been able to process a few WUs yesterday and even upload the data without any error message.

Ok... It's the next morning. I still have the same 5 wu's waiting download and trying to force them (Retry Now) does no good. Thanks for the Info Rom.

I hit "Retry Now"on the Project and it reports the "Project is Down"

Hmmmm. I just "Uploaded" two WU's. If the project is down....where did they go????? lol

You will need some more patient: at the time of your last modified post it was in Berkeley 03:34:02h.
Berkeley is UTC -8h.

Upload is working but not the report.

Greetings from Belgium
