I assunme you are running optimised 4.11/4.18 application at the moment. Then you have to delete the app_info.xml file from the project folder.

But first set to 'no new work' and complete any units on your computer.
After they are completed update then remove the file and allow new work.
5.12 units with the application should download if they are available.

The application will not automatically upgrade if the info_app file is present.

Note, BOINC has to be manually upgraded, and you should be on version 5.2.6 or later to benefit from the new credit calculation method.

First, the *minimum* boinc version should be 5.2.6. The latest version at the moment (I think, I've been out of commission for a couple weeks) is 5.2.13. Check the "downloads" link from the main homepage for the latest boinc versions.
And yes, the 5.12 application has generic optimizations already done however Crunch3r has optimized versions for several platforms available on his website. Just remember that if you use one of these optimized versions you must also install a customized app_info.xml file to tell it to use the optimized app instead of downloading the standard application.

Can someone post this app_info.xml?

I ask because I copied in Crunch3rs SSE2 optimized app two days ago and didn't think about an app_info.xml, so have none. But I'm running Enhanced Units with Crunch3rs app just fine.

I've double-checked this, the only SETI*.Exe files in the BOINC folders are the standard 4.11 and Crunch3rs 5.12 - It's not been overwritten, it's the same .EXE as in the ZIP I downloaded.

I have no app_info.xml file, but it works just fine.

/Edit
I'm running BOINC 5.4.8 if that matters.

The optimised 5.12 is from Crunchr's site. The official version 5.13 just posted is to remove a known timer problem for win9x users.

True, but the question was where does the BOINC version come from, not where does the SETI Enhanced App come from.

BOINC version 5.2.13 is the Reccomended Released version. BOINC 5.4.8 is a test/development version.

The proper answer to where to find BOINC test releases is, if you don't know where to find the test versions, you probably shouldn't be running them.

We're mixing BOINC and SETI versions.

The latest BOINC (and the current alpha version) work fine on NT 4.0. It can be a little hard to install on a "fresh" NT 4.0 setup since you'll need to load SP6 and upgrade to the most current version of Internet Explorer for NT (why does updating the browser update the OS too??), but if you've been staying current it works fine.

The SETI application updates are automatic unless you have an APP_INFO.XML telling BOINC that you want to use a specific (generally, optimized) science app.

This pretty much says that you have an APP_INFO.XML file, and it doesn't mention version 5.13.

As Ned pointed out, this presumably means the project is distributing 513 version work, and you are using an app_info.xml which gives no guidance on processing that version.

The app_info.xml distributed from crunch3r's site over the last half day or more starts with an example of remapping version 418 work to his ap labelled 411. I think you could follow that example (adding a fourth section) to remap results calling for 513 to use crunch3r's 512 ap. I've written a trial version, but am not in a position to test it for some hours, so won't post it as I'd not wish to lead others astray.

There is no v5.13 app for seti-enhanced - there is one for Seti-Beta. You can't use the v5.12 optimized app to run a Beta WU - or at least you shouldn't.

I think there is some confusion between Seti-regular and Seti-Beta.

I think you need to recheck your systems. Only two of your five computers are doing enhanced workunits and those two are not using crunch3rs app.

I appear to have had a first success in downloading a 513 WU and running it on crunch3r 5.12 using the following ap_info.xml. I think, but am not sure it will:

1. run non-enhanced 418 WU's using crunch3r's 4.11
2. run enhanced 512 WU's using crunch3r's 5.12
3. run enhanced 513 WU's using crunch3r's 5.12.

I've used this on a couple of computer to finish successfully already downloaded and start 512 WU's, and have seen a 513 WU download and start running using crunch3r's 512. That is admittedly, tiny testing.

This I tried using the pre BBCode to preserve indentation, which to my eye makes these things more readable. The bad news is excess blank lines, so I reverted this post ot using the code BBCode. Does anyone have a BBCode trick to post text with indentations?

For indentations use the [ pre] and [ /pre] tags ( without the spaces of course they are just there to show the code) at the beginning and end of your text.

Well, all I did was fix the app_info to take out the optimized 5.12, but to continue running the optimized 4.18/4.11. When things get more stable with the enhanced and they aren't changing things on a daily/weekly basis I'll get the optimized app again. Don't wanna screw anything up again. :-)
