Don't get on me as I am as starved for WUs as anyone else around here. However, I noticed prior to the 11th that I got vastly differing numbers of WUs on identical machines using the same preferences. I expect that should not be happening. Anyone care to speculate why it might and how one could prevent it?

Active_frac shows how much you're letting BOINC crunch, on new install this is always 1, but if one of the boxes only run 1 hour/day your active_frac will be 0.1 to not totally disallow downloading of work.

For a week or something, the wu had roughly 6x expected time but crunched normally, and some of these is still in the system so...

The scheduling-server can at most give out 20 "results"/asking, and 50 "results"/day.
They're not managing to generate enough work, therefore you'll often not get more than a couple of wu, but sometimes a large bunch.

AFAIK you'll not ask for more work if you've got above the min cache-setting, even it didn't manage filling your cache.
