OK, I should have read the "fine print" when I converted to BOINC. But it never occurred to me that with the new record-keeping, the old counting system would be totally abandoned! For someone who's been accumulating packets for many years, and nearing the 5000 mark, it was a real blow to realize I'll never get there (officially). Please reconsider and issue the old fashioned credits to those who earned them after converting to BOINC.

You can still earn them in SETI Classic, and they will be sent over to display in your own page when SETI Classic is discontinued. There are several reasons for not displaying the classic stats more widely and granting them for S@H BOINC. The first has to do with not promoting cheating. The second is tat some WUs take significantly longer than others to process. This is even more pronounced across projects. CPDN for example takes weeks instead of hours to crunch. Some Predictor WUs took less than 5 minutes to process. Some S@H WUs overflow very quickly typically in less than 5 minutes. In Classic these were granted full credit. In BOINC, they will be granted the credit for the time processed.

Thanks, John. But please clarify. Are you saying that all I need to do is hang in there, and at the end of the transition period, all the workunits I have completed will be retrospectively credited to my account and my Team's account. That satisfies me just fine. I do not need to somehow return to SETI classic, do I.

The claim by the development team is that there will be another transfer of data from S@H classic to S@H BOINC sometime after S@H classic is turned off. There will be an attempt to get new users transfered as well, whether this will be successful or not is up for debate.

The classic credit does not convert into cobblestones, but will show up in your user account as classic credit earned. And yes, the transfer should update your account to the full amount that you earned under classic. So it is just hang in there and wait.

If there is an email discrepency, I would make certain that my classic and BOINC S@H accounts had the same email address if at all possible.
