This is off the predictor site (official news).. Seems there's another problem with WU/results, in that when there was only one "cruncher app", the results could be reported for the wrong WU! here's the link from predictor: http://predictor.scripps.edu/news_updates_cs.php ----------------------------------------------------- This is great news directly from David Anderson: "We located and fixed a bug in the feeder that would occasionally cause results to be associated with the wrong workunit. In cases where this workunit belongs to a different application than the result, this would usually lead to a confusing situation on the client, where the application would fail to produce the expected output files. In any case, the redundancy mechanism would generally detect and reject the bad result, so the only damage done is that the user doesn't get credit. ------------------------------------------------ So, I wonder, how many of the results resturned to seti were reported for the wrong WU? (this one goes back a long way........) Guess this is "lost work, part 3!" |

> I find it very "funny" that we have to go to predictor to get some news... > > I don't.. Predictor has been honest since day one..... Boinc/Seti wouldn't even provide results/pending credits info since june, so the supercomputer couldn't question why somethings were invalid and other weren't! The "flagship project" of BOINC is in really deep doo-doo, and what they and the cheerleaders just don't get, is being "honest" with the supercomputer goes a long way! Per Seti/Boinc, they're repairing the alpha/beta sites, but I've been crunching their work for 14 hours... Now I wonder how much of that will be discarded! |
