When I update the project, I get the message:

'2004-08-21 08:41:14 [SETI@home] Sending request to scheduler: http://setiboinc.ssl.berkeley.edu/sah_cgi/cgi
2004-08-21 08:41:21 [SETI@home] Scheduler RPC to http://setiboinc.ssl.berkeley.edu/sah_cgi/cgi succeeded
2004-08-21 08:41:21 [SETI@home] Message from server: Invalid or missing authenticator. Visit this project's web site to get an authenticator.'

Logging out and in again into my account works fine. Uploading results works fine too. How can I solve this problem?

If you have had successfull RPC connections with that computer before it is most likely a communications glitch and will fix itself eventually.

If the host has never connected before you may have mistyped or gotten a space in the authenticator. Leading or trailing spaces in the authenticator or URL can be very annoying. If that is the case wait until the project is up and then try to detach and reattach.

Same problem here. I assume this might have to do with the 'restore' at the seti-server. After days of not being able to upload a result (i.e. the computer did make a successfull connection in the past, how else could it got and process a WU and have a results), this morning a result got uploaded.

SETI@home - 2004-08-21 05:36:10 - Started upload of 08au03ab.28481.3858.1003414.49_4_0
SETI@home - 2004-08-21 05:36:31 - Temporarily failed upload of 08au03ab.28481.3858.1003414.49_4_0
SETI@home - 2004-08-21 05:36:31 - Backing off 1 hours, 58 minutes, and 0 seconds on transfer of file 08au03ab.28481.3858.1003414.49_4_0

So the project was stil not responding as it did for day, but that's known. This was the last unseccessfull try before an upload worked.

SETI@home - 2004-08-21 07:34:31 - Started upload of 08au03ab.28481.3858.1003414.49_4_0
SETI@home - 2004-08-21 07:35:00 - Finished upload of 08au03ab.28481.3858.1003414.49_4_0
SETI@home - 2004-08-21 07:35:00 - Approximate throughput 2783.615157 bytes/sec

So one upload worked (stil one WU result pending here)

SETI@home - 2004-08-21 13:03:38 - Sending request to scheduler: http://setiboincdata.ssl.berkeley.edu/sah_cgi/cgi
SETI@home - 2004-08-21 13:03:41 - Scheduler RPC to http://setiboincdata.ssl.berkeley.edu/sah_cgi/cgi succeeded
SETI@home - 2004-08-21 13:03:42 - Message from server: Invalid or missing authenticator. Visit this project's web site to get an authenticator.

This is the result of a manual update (I tried this to get the last WU stil ready to upload to the server, but only got this message.

I assume the 'authenticator' is this long code you enter as your 'account ID' when joining a project, maybe mangled by something.

BTW, I changed my E-mail on the website, somewhere a week ago, and it was reset to the old one. Today I changed it again. Does that change the authenticator somehow and is it now out of sync?

Just checked, and the computer account/ID is missing. Guess I have to Detach and Attach on that PC because the computer account was probably lost because of the restore on the seti-server. (I attached a week ago with that computer)

Is there a reason that the computer account is not created automaticly, when it goes missing for some reason. The 'request' send to the server does contain all the information, right?
What is the difference with detaching and attaching to the project manualy?

Just deattaching and attaching with the project again solved the problem. But the project was resetted and a lot of work flushed.
Now everything works fine. Thanks.
