There are issues on the back and front ends. If BOINC is broken, then it won't work no matter the project. |

Have been running BOINC all summer and I can't remember one single time that the core client has failed. It has allways been the crunching application or the servers that has failed. On Seti mostly the server, and on predictor a bit of both but it seems they worked it out. Don't blame the core client when it's the servers that ain't working. |

And I'm glad that many can crunch, but the truth is that a fair number of core clients are NOT working properly and never have. Even the boards at the other projects bear this truth out. I don't think we'll ever know the extent, the number of non-techie home users who tried, shrugged, and left without comment and the number who tried, posted, and then gave up. |

I've been running Seti since Classic first was publicly released, never had any problems with it. I upgraded to Boinc as soon as it came out of beta. Most of the time my machine has had nothing to crunch, occasionally it got some WU's. It appears that I have received credit for less than a tenth of the units turned in to Boinc. Now I have upgraded to 4.02 after trying for days to get the server without success (where was 4.0?, 4.1?, why are people talking about 4.5? & what happened to .3 & .4?) because the Seti Homepage said I had to. Now Boinc will not open at all. Tried redownloading over prior install, same problem. Uninstalled & downloaded, same result. No useful feedback from team or power users. I must have gotten 30-40 people started on Seti but now I'm walking away because the 45 or so hours I have put into it since Boinc came out were a complete waste. Len |

You should be running 4.05. As for the other releases you mention, versions we don't see are released to the alpha test group. |

Seti link for download is broken, server not found. Located another post which gave address (http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/download.php) Went there & downloaded. Now will not unzip. when I try to open file get message (occasionally, usually just disapears) saying decompresion canceled. Now what? Len |

Did you try to download it again? |
