Surely there now enough units created by the splitter to start handing more than about 2 a week out (and more importantly allow them to be returned)or is that too much to ask?

We have been VERY patient, patient help YOU. Surely its in both out interests to turn this joke of a project into something worthwhile.

I can already feel the cheerleaders coming into this one . . .

“It’s only the science that counts"
"Why do you care so much about your work units?"
"It’s like a little child that needs time to grow”
etc
etc

Come over to predictor:
http://predictor.scripps.edu

It's worthwhile and the originators are very kind and actually communicate with their contributors.

(merely disgusted about SETI/BOINC running so flaky)

Ulrich, I already am running P@H, I've run it for about 2/3 the time I've run S@H yet strangely :-P I've already got twice the number of cobblesones and my work split is set at 90:10 in favour of S@H.

While its not 100% reliable with small outages, I agree the people in charge of P@H do actually communicate and try to explain things. They even try to explain the science behind the project which is interesting even if most of it pass way over my head ;-) .

Join SIT@HOME, you too can sit there watching that expensive PC sit there doing nothing. Marvel at the fact the room is 5 degrees cooler than when your PC was running SETI@HOME.

I think the reason they are waiting to restart the "Public Project", is for fear
of the exact same thing happening. By starting slowly, they could possibly overt another catastrophe. We have been down for several days, what's a few more days. Some of us are losing a tremendous amount of credit, and we reallyhave no choice but to suck it up and move on. It is not like the progarm is choosing who it targets, it is an 'Equal Opportunity Offender", It targets everyone. So basically we are all starting anew with the credits we had prior to 8/11. Since they copied the database on 8/11, it seems that all credit that is due prior to 8/11 will be forthcoming when the validator is back online.
I wish all the best, and a quick return to "happy crunching".

Warm Regards,

Rocky

===========

hahahahahaha...Did somebody get some Credit on 8/11...Don't you really mean With the Credits we had Prior to 6/28 since that is the last time I've recieved any Credit anyway...I'm kewl with it though, I switched 2 Computers to CPDN & 1 to Predictor completly detaching from the Seti Project & they will stay that way until I see some improvement in the Seti Project & I see Credits being granted again...

I figure after a couple of Thousand Wu's lost during that time that I've ran I've had enough for now & I've decided to run something that actually resembles a Project & not something that just beats you into the ground at every turn.
