Go to the main page ( http://setiboinc.ssl.berkeley.edu/sah/ ) and click on "your account", then click on "general" under the preferences section. You can edit the data from there.

The cache is determined by a couple of the setting in that section - particularly how many days worth of work to keep on your computer. Just don't set this number too high - remember that with boinc, unlike seti, other people have to wait to get their points until you have returned all of your work. If you start off with maybe doubling the numbers that are there for minimum and maximum you should be ok - then add more to it every few days until it settles down where you want it to be. If you set it for several days, you'll be pissing off a lot of people who are waiting on you.

Also, when you change these settings they won't update locally until the next time boinc contacts the server, so you won't see an immediate change unless you force a preference update (this is done differently depending upon which version of the software you're running).

I have 20 BOINC Beta Test WUs now and not a single SAH work unit. How do I get a real WU to run?

Wait for the current WUs to finish, and you should get from S@H unless S@H is down at that time.

As John said, it has to just cycle through and get to it - once they're in the cache, you can't control which one it work on when. But beyond that, be sure that you check your weighting for each project. You will likely want to decrease your beta now, maybe something like 90% seti and 10% beta or such - you can change that in your specific preferences for each project.

That will ensure that in the future you don't get overloaded with beta units again.

I have 3 now, but my status page says I have 12. I'm totally confused with BOINC.

Yeah, it shows 9 from about 20 hours back and 3 more recent ones. You can look in the projects/setiathome.berkeley.edu/ folder and count the actual work units files there and make sure you do really only have 3. The only way I know that files get cleared out without creating a new host id is if you issue a -reset_project command.

At any rate, the ones on your status page will stay there even if you no longer have them, and they will eventually time out and be reissued to another host.

==========

When 2 other people turn in the same good result. If it has to be reissued then it could take some time to receive credit for the result...

I have about 70 Pending Work Units right now waiting for Verification, so you see it can take time...

Uploading results it a two step process. After crunching is finished, the result data is uploaded. The next time that you retrieve work from the project, or about 6 hours before expiration, the results will be reported. At that point, they become "Pending".

The next step is validation. When 3 matching results for the same WU are reported by 3 separate users the results that match are verified, and the median of the 3 credit requests is granted to all 3 users.
