Hi folks. I have a Toshiba laptop Pent 4 running at 2.8Gig with 1500M mem. BOINC running smoothly, but when I look at other's stats my unit seems to consistently take more time to process work units. Like the floating point speed (1162) and the measured integer speeds (1054) are much lower than others. Is there any way I can speed that up? Be gentle I'm no computer wizzard. Thanks for any suggestions. rb

LOTS of people use an otpimized version that helps ALOT. You could also go into thepower settings of your pc and set it so it is at 100% cpu power 100% of the time. Laptops generally have very agressive power settings that are designed to make the battery alst as long as possible. This is not conducive to letting the cpu use 100% of the power it can.

One big note about laptops, keep them clean!!! Dust is a bad thing for laptops.

Also, there are laptop coolers out there. These help keep the processor a little cooler.
