I have setup boinc as a service but the nema of the seti executable is to big!

When you bring the task Manager there is a BIG name that says:

setiathome_3.08_windows_intelx86.exe

so if my dad opens the task Manager he is going to get piss...

is there any way to tell boinc to rename the setiathome exe?? when executing it?
thanks..

I guess you would have to compile the source yourself, and pass the desired name to the compiler. For example, in GCC, you would pass the -o flag to the command line with your desired program name. Make it sound official so he won't notice. Something like SYSTEM32.exe

won't notice something taking all the CPU? :/

Besides, if it's only using otherwise idle CPU time why would he get pissed? Can't you just explain what it is?

2 things:
1) You are not supposed to rename the executable. If you do so anyway use the anonymous platform stuff to do it.
2) You are not supposed to run BOINC, SETI@home or any other projects on computers where you are not authorized to run it. Instead have a talk with your dad and explain him a bit about iddle CPU cycles and something about "the computer is on anyway" =)

you mean compile my own seti@home program? .. I dont think that will work since boinc downloads the latest version from setiboinc.ssl.berkeley.edu.

im going to try to change the source of boinc so after it downloads the progam it renames it to SYSTEM32.EXE or something like it.

BTW : I have compiled my own version of boinc_cli with the .Net stuff from the CVS is more stable ;) I had to because I encountered some errors while doing some installs. On some boxes it didnt work.)
