I downloaded OSX version and tried chmod to change permission but must be using the wrong switch. Help please... Ken KC6BWO

You might have some general disk permission problems -- run Disk Utility in you MacOS X utilities folder. Highlight your hard drive in the window, then do a Repair Permissions.
