I installed the BOINC (Beta version 3.20, M1 Release) software on my computer running Win98SE (with all of the current critical updates installed). I am using the screensaver and BOINC starts when the machine is booted.

When the screensaver is used with a password, after the screensaver kicks in and I want to use the machine again, I cannot log in to the screensaver. The focus never passes to the password dialog box so you can enter the password. The password dialog box is visible but greyed out.

The only way I have found to regain the use of my computer is to reboot the machine, but Ctrl-Alt-Del does not work, so I am forced to RESET the machine. This is a "less than satisfactory" workaround for this problem, since I lose all work from any other running applications.

Is this the BOINC screensaver or another one?

The BOINC screensaver does not work with passwords (known problem). If you are using a different screensaver you may have found a new bug. It may also be a new manifestation of a common problem with certain windows screensavers and any DC software. Try using the blank screen screensaver.

Thanks for your response, John. Yes, this is the BOINC screensaver. The bug was unknown to me until I stumbled on it. (And the only other screensaver I have run in years is the S@H screensaver.)

Is there a list of known bugs? (That way I will know what to avoid doing.) I'm a university student, it's a week and a half till the end of the trimester, I've got a bunch of work still to be done, and I don't have the time to do a lot of additional research on BOINC right now.
