As I understand it, each WU is dispatched to 3 different computers and only when all 3 have arrived at the same result, is anyone granted a credit.
It would be quite nice it the WU was dispatched to 3 computers that worked at roughly the same speed:-)

As it stands I have 'n' WU's completed and am awaiting 2 slower machines completing their runs on those WU's. Now I dont have the fastest machine on the planet, but I can imagine what the person who does must be feeling when they complete 200+WU per diem and the other machines are only completing 1 WU per month:-/

Since Boinc can and does benchmark the machine its running on, the use of that benchmark result to select other machines of a similar benchmark is possible if the benchmark result is transmitted to the boinc server and there is software on the server capable of acting on that data.

Nice concept, but that's asking a bit much of the scheduler.

It's really not that bad. In beta, there was a fairly limited number of participants, so you would get some fairly large pending credit lists. I suspect the turnaround time to improve with the public release, as there will be many more people processing WUs. :)

Another factor is the queue length. Even with a fast processor if I have my queue set to 7 days max and .5 days min, it will be 6.5 days before any of the work is returned.

What happens is one of the other 2 copies of 'my' WU gets lost? Do I never get credit?

If a result is not returned within the deadline (S@H 2 weeks, Predictor 5 days, CPDN rumored to be 6 months, F@H rumored to be 5 days), the WU is sent out to the number of hosts that did not return it in time. If one of those does not return the WU in time, the process repeats. The deadline is from the time that the WU is downloaded to the host.
