Can a user continually reset the project in order to reject a work unit, because its estimated time to completion is too long, and only accepting work units with a shorter time to completion ?

Should this be considered abuse because it unnecessarily increases server workload ?

True people COULD do that but there really is no point now.

Unlike SETI@Home classic, the emphasis for credit is NOT on time to complete the work unit. It is on Cobblestones, something which approximates floating point operations to do the work unit.

So if you get a HUGE work unit, which takes a long time, you will get MORE credit when returned compared with a short one.

Climateprediction.net is taking this to an extreeme, with work units that can take MONTHS (reportedly).

The estimate is that a 2.6GHz processor will take about 3 weeks. :)

dont bother detaching from the project every now and then... thats a waste of wu's. remember that doing this could and would delay credits for the rest of us for up to a MONTH.
they all take about the same time, no matter what the reported time is. they do that so as to keep sending others wu's.

DONT detach unless you plan on leaving boinc permanately
