I recently updated at Mundayweb, adding
an image URL, can see the image when I
preview from Neil's page, but in my posts
to the boards, it is just grey. Anyone else
notice same with their sig files and images?
Much appreciation.

OPPPS....ah, nevermind, please disregard, feeling
a bit embarrassed now :-)

Well, on second thought, now the image sometimes shows
up, then fades to grey....my image is within the params
of Neil's requirements...

Try adding &trans=off after your user id number, and you also need to change the url to the new url as forwarding on the old url will end sometime soon. Try making it like this:

img src="http://boinc.mundayweb.com/seti2/stats.php?userID=141&trans=off"

within the less-than and greater-than signs, of course.

Darren, does the img src line go into the background image slot?
I am totally confused about the sig now, also am having trouble
finding an image that fits the params that Neil has set in place,
am mainly looking for images from the Hubble achieve.

On mundayweb when it asks for the background image, just give it the url for wherever the image is located, in the standard web page url format - i.e. http://www.somewebpage.com/somepicture.gif

The img src line is what has to go into your account setting on seti/boinc.

The info from your account on seti/boinc simply tells the page what to show for your sig. In this case, you're telling it to put html code into your sig that tells your browser to retrieve something from somewhere else (mundayweb, in this case). The browser then contacts mundayweb and Neil's server runs the script that he has in place to get your stats. If you add a background image in your settings at mundayweb, the server that provides your sig then calls the location you have specified on mundayweb to get the picture, overlays the data and the picture, then sends the final product to your browser to display as the sig line.

I'm not sure what new parameters have been put in place by Neil, but limits on the size could make it much harder to find usable pictures. To get something small enough from a remote location (without editing it and hosting it yourself) you may have to find something on one of the nasa (or other space agency) pages that is used as part of a logo image or link image, rather than the full scale image, so it will be pretty small.

Hi all,

I have only limited background image sizes on the Seti counters.

At present I am seeing how people are getting on with the restrictions. If they prove too restrictive then I will increase the maximum dimensions allowed (or may be remove them).

Some users are using 1500 x 1500 pixel images which increases the bandwidth used by my site as well as putting extra load on the server's CPU.

Any comments (good or bad) are welcomed.
