I realy think it could be easier and far less headache inducing to start trying to comunicate with aliens than a Boinc scheduler. Like something from the Twilight zone, one or two days a month a scheduler seems to suddenly come out of knowhere... Then its just a problem of getting it to be friendly and send WU's (women are easier!) Seriously thought, whats the reasoning for 'Scheduler RPC to Http... Failed' 'No schedulers responded' 'Deferring communication' Repeatedly for for several days- consistantly? And why no WU's? this is a repeated question im sure but why are there none? It all seems that Seti doesnt need anymore number crunchers to work for them since there isn't enough to go around. And if this is the unlikely case why are they letting/encouraging people to switch from the old system and also new people sign up. |

Again... if you don't like BOINC, stick with SETI@Home Classic for now. :-) |

(don't think it has much chance of getting any real good/ usefull results, could be wrong, but at least with seti if we dont find alien communications there still chances of finding other interesting phenomenon) |

> Again... if you don't like BOINC, stick with SETI@Home Classic for now. :-) Except that the instructions told us to uninstall SETI@Home Classic before we installed BOINC. And I followed those instructions, so it's no longer on my machine to 'stick with'. Sure I could download and install it again, but I do have other things in my life that I have to get done! |

Why do people keep talking about whether you like BOINC or not? What's to like or dislike about something that simply fails to function. For all practical purposes it does not exist. You were probably lucky not to get any work units because you can't upload them when they are finished anyway. Then the whole shebang disappears and you find you have duplicate machines. I think you are being far too tolerant of a complete shambles. |
