How much disk space do I have to allocate before it will begin work? It goes to the set boinc server, and comes back with something to the effect that there was work available but I don't have enough disk space allocated. I have a lan server set up with lots of space; Can I tell it to use that space rather than the space on the local computer, and if so, how? Or do I have to copy the boinc program to that server's disc and execute it across the network? Running Mandrake Linux v. 10 on both machines. Don't want to install on the server because it is already running a weather satellite program that requires most of the available clock cycles, but still does lan disk serving just fine. |

BOINC / S@H use less than 100 MB of space. Setting your computer to allow .5GB max and leave .1GB with no more than 50% should work fine. Note that there may be a 4GB or 2GB numeric truncation error in the code. jm7 |

I just verified this by adding prefs for my home account: the default is 100GB for "Limits on disk space used by BOINC:". Am I perhaps misreading this thread? |

It does indeed, my mistake. I don't recall it being that high when I signed up for beta, and since cross project preferences are migrated between projects, I never saw the default value for S@H. That'll teach me. ;-) |

Glad i read this suggestion. I had 20 gig in the setting. Thought 100 gig was way to much ! Now I have it set at 1.0 gig [/url] |
