I realize that the Pending Credit widget took up a lot of resources and was deactivated for the short term. Would it be too much to ask for a "Number of pending credit" on the personal stat page? I never needed to review each pending unit individually, I (and I think most people) just want to see how much pending credit they have.<p>

Would this be too much to implement? Take up too many resources? I'm dying to know how many pending I have.

The problem is the database resources required. Running the total is the equivalent of showing them all to you as far as the database is concerned. Since the database is one of the big bottle necks that is being worked on, I would expect these back eventually.

Well, I wonder if the resources it would have taken to keep the "pending credit" available is much more than the resources used by all the messages being posted here about "No credit received", etc. Such messages seem to be a big share of this board, and now we are seeing people getting angry and quitting SETI because they think they aren't getting credited for their work. Might have caused less fuss to have just left "pending credits" working, maybe?

I do hope that (after the developers catch up with the current crisis) they take a look at some of their design in light of the questions here. It's apparent that some things are not clear to their users, and are generating a lot of questions. And will probably continue to generate questions, unless things are changed.

For example, clearly a lot of users do not understand that credits are granted only after 3 users have computed a WU & got the same answers. It's in the documentation, but either people aren't reading that completely (they never do) or they are missing that part. So I suggest changing that part of the "your account" page to something like this:

Confirmed* Credits: 123 (* Credits are granted only when 2 other users have computed the same WU & verified your results. This may take several days. Until then, these show as Pending Credits.)

Pending* Credits: 234 (* Credits for WU's uploaded by you, but not yet verified by 2 other users.)

There appears to be plenty of room on the page to add this text. And it should certainly cut down on all the questions posted about this issue.
