Do you actually have a proxy server using port 8080 on your LAN? Are you using an external proxy server? Do you also have a proxy enabled in the settings for your web browser? If not, and you use proxy settings inappropriately, then, this failure will happen.
Have you tried running boinc with the proxy settings cleared, i.e. disabled?

I used internal proxy for web cache. IE and BOINC 5.2.13 set use proxy same number and port.
No problems with IE. But BOINC 5.2.13 can't connect to internet.

Now I back to BOINC 4.45 again.

very Thanks.

Hi Jan,

Do you have work from any project? Is so how much? (see work tab)
Do you have any work listed on the "transfers" tab? if so how much?
Is there any messaged under the status column of the Project page?

Hello Tony,
Thanks for your quick answer. All the BOINC-tabs are empty now.

look at the bottom right hand corner of the boinc manager window, does it say "connected to localhost" OR "disconnected"

1) do a hard reboot, not just restart

OR

2) click "File", "Select computer", leave boxes empty, click OK

OR

3) click File, select computer, type in"localhost", leave password blank, click OK

OR

4) click File, Select computer, type in "127.0.0.1", leave password blank, click OK

does any of this help?

there's more, but my fingers are tired

Hi Tony,

I'm sorry for your fingers... But there is hope!

I turned my computer totally power-off and on again and that worked!!!

Boinc started directly with the fetch of a new workunit and went to work hard...

Thanks for your advices!!

just so you know Jan, it lost connection to port 1043 as a loopback address (communication port, network comms) between the boinc manager (boincmgr.exe), and the daemon (boinc.exe). Shutting down allowed boinc to get that port back

Thanks for explanation. The problem is that my computer is always running, so normally I do never a real shutdown. Maybe I should do that more often.

Thanks again!!

It was probably some program update (like windows update). don't fret, it's not very common
