I had a system lockup and when I rebooted and checked the status of my work units in BOINC none were listed and all those work units completed over the weekend and not sent are no longer listed there either. I opened the BOINC Projects and SETI@HOME subfolders and the work units are still there, but they are not being processed and I have no way to transmit those that were complete. Should I just delete the work units from the subfolder or detach and and reattach to the project? |

When I was running SETI Classic, I noticed that a WU started from scratch when I rebooted, losing all data. I then ran regular backups of the directory, and when this happened again, I restored and restarted thus saving many hours. I also back up SETI Boinc, though I have found that for this to work properly, I have to exit Boinc first. So far, I have not had to restore SETI Boinc. |

This is most likely due to the client_state.xml getting corrupted in the crash. There is not really anything you can do without a backup of that file (and even that is kinda iffy). There is a task to go to a 2 file rotation when writting the file when that is implemented this type of problem should be eliminated. John Keck BOINCing since 2002/12/08 |

And how do I enable it? Should I just delete all the work units from the projects folders that are just sitting there? They no longer appear in the WORK list of BOINC and the completed ones no longer appear in the TRANSFERS section. Perhaps a automatic backup of certain critical files should be considered as a new feature for future updates of BOINC. |

The same for the completed units in the TRANSFER list waiting to be sent. I still have the files in the programs SETI project subfolder, but I don't have a way of working on or transferring those completed work units since they no longer appear in the BOINC program itself. |

> Where might I find this task? And how do I enable it? He meant that the developers have plans to create a fix for this situation. Thus it is a "task" on the developers' "To Do" list. It is not a solution that currently exists. |
