Hi all,

I'm having difficulties getting the client to connect through my proxy server and was wondering if I configuring it correctly?

After I downloaded the install I noticed that there wasn't any information on the web site about how to configure a proxy so I looked in the client_state.xml file. In there I noticed the section so I filled in the name(tried the IP address as well) and port of both my socks server and http server and ran the software again. Still no joy see following error.

connect: Network is unreachable

I used to run the beta version a while back on the same machine and I struggled then to get it configured correctly but it did eventually work so I know I can get through the proxy fine I just not sure if I'm configuring it correctly?

Any ideas?
Cheers

Thanks for that Merlin but it didn't work. I added these three lines to my client_state.xml,

x.x.x.x
xx

with my correct proxy settings are ran the software again. After entering in the URL and account key it stopped again with the same problem. The strange thing is that when I look at the client_state.xml file again it has removed the three lines I had just entered?? It's as though it's resetting the client_state.xml file before it runs therefore removing the details of the proxy settings?

Hi,

The proxy_info from my client_state.xml is at http://www.cademuir.net/client_state.xml-snipet.txt

note the need for the use_http_proxy/ tag

Cheers,
~Al

You cannot edit the xml file while the client is running.
Stop boinc (exit, not just suspend)
Modify the client_state.xml file
Start boinc

Good grief!
I didn't realise people were still reading this file.... It needs a serious update. For docs, you're much better off here
