You guys aren't running the Forums ("Community") on the same servers the project is running on, are you? That would be really, really silly. But it would explain why it takes SOOOOO long to display ONE message from the Forums and why we're getting "No schedulers responded" for ALL of the last week (except the 3-4 attempts that say "No work available"). "No work available" "No schedulers responded" So WHAT are the servers DOING if there isn't any work to send out and they aren't accepting connections to send work back in???????????? Hello?? Is this thing on??? Is ANYONE working there? |

Whoa! I need to report a BIG problem/error!! The BOINC client was just now trying to talk to the server (as it has been for more than a week now with nothing to do) and, well, the server screwed up BIG-TIME. It actually sent me a work-unit! Man, someone's probably gonna lose their job for this. Imagine, actually sending work for one of the volunteers to do! What is it gonna do for the next 7+ days? I guess the good side is that it didn't compound the error by sending more than one unit. Gee, it sure would be ugly if it actually paid any attention to the Preferences we set. Fortunately, it went right back to the "No work available" (on the very few occasions when it's not saying "No schedulers responded"). Nothing (much) to do here, move along... |

It's now almost completely "No work available" instead of "No schedulers responded." They fixed something, as the website front page notes. ((The website makes it sound like they only have ONE SERVER machine doing all this stuff! THAT's not good.)) Of course, that's not really an improvement: our machines are still just sitting idle. Is there some PURPOSE to a project with no work to do? |
