hello to all, the first and only installed Boincclient I'm using is the windows version 3.19. w2k & xp. There is an "new" version, the version 3.20. Unforunately I found no further infos about. Please let me put my questions here, it's probaly the shortest way to get good infos, some readers surely have the knowledge: - if there is a risk to update? - Will I loose the waiting to upload WU's ? - what is the benefit of the 3.20? - are there new function available? - is there a need to upgrade? Any infos about 3.20 are wellcomed tankyou very much and greetings ric |

I downloaded 3.20, shutdown BOINC, installed 3.20 over the existing version, and restarted BOINC. No problems at all - works fine and no lost WUs. As far as I know, 3.20 has performance enhancements and some preliminary work on time slicing for projects with large WUs, such as Climate Predication. Predictor@Home requires BOINC 3.20 at the moment. -- john |

V3.20 fixed the bug with service stopping at log-out, and returns error-codes on some up/down/can't crunch-errors. Better multi-project-support and such isn't coming before in v4. |

Another question here. I go to: http://setiweb.ssl.berkeley.edu/download.php to update to 3.20 and click on the download the windows/x86 version, but never get the page to display ("The page cannot be dislayed ......") Is there another url to download the update or is it just too much load on the sever? I've tried several time over the last few days. >Better multi-project-support and such isn't coming before in v4. True but AFAIK it's not a big bang but the end result of a series of changes to the code. Some of those changes were in 3.20. >Is there another url to download the update or is it just too much load on the >sever? I've tried several time over the last few days. It can be downloaded from the Predictor site - http://predictor.scripps.edu/ -- john |
