What kind of stupid people do they take us for...I have been trying for the past 2 days to upload 9 results, so far I have managed ( by as one person put it "leaning on the reply button") to upload 5. I have not been able to get any work in this time. If this is normal, I would hate to see it when it is broken.

It should now be functioning better than it was over the last few days. It is still overloaded, but it is functioning again.

I think everyone needs to calm down, stop blaming Berkeley for "lying" to us about this whole thing and be patient. They are not lying to us. This is a Beta site, at least for now. Beta means that it may not work perfectly all the time while it is in Beta testing. They are having some technical problems, as all Beta projects tend to have problems. There is no lying or whatever, so just get over it, be patient and give them time to fix the problems.

I believe they are reading these postings. But they are also very well aware of things not working right now. Harassing, calling them names and blaming them for all sorts of problems is just rude, uncalled for, unnecessary and just plain disrespectful to the people at Berkeley and BOINC. They are doing an excellent job so back off and let them do their jobs. PLEASE!!

I have not been able to upload anything for almost a week myself. But, I am still running the classic as well as BOINC, so I am still contributing to the project. Once BOINC is working I will be even more productive. So I am sitting here patiently and with crossed fingers hoping that they get this fixed soon so we can all get back to finding ET's...grin.

What's going on? The DB server is having serious issues due to the project being down so long. The web server being overloaded is no new issue (it ALLWAYS seems to take forever... Berkeley, please speed it up...), but with the seemingly week-long "blackout", you tell me a database won't have issues when literally thousands of people are hitting it up (with new WU requests from the scheduler, new results [and thus credit] turned in, etc).

...Or it may mean they (like any PR department will do) are downplaying any "irregularities" in SETI's operation. I'm sure they're painfully aware of just what's going on, and the severity of the situation.

It's sad to see that you honestly can't wait it out (yes, it may have been stupid for Berkeley to release it in it's current state, but looking more than 3 feet ahead helps :)). Hopefully you go to another project that better fits your "set-it-and-keep-a-close-eye-on-it-so-you-know-its-not-stalled" needs.

There have been improvements...in the last hour I uploaded the rest of my WU's with no problem...maybe by Tomorrow, we will be able to get some more work.

I think the majority of frustration does not come from the server being tweaked and not being able to Up/Download, it is from a lack of Official support in the form of news updates.

I have never seen a professionally run site before that relied on members to reply to the "Help Desk". That is what the "normal forums" are for, getting help from other members.

Every WU I had is now uploaded and I have no more work to do. I imagine that is because downloading is secondary to uploading until things are worked out.

Before anyone tells me to go to Predictor and run that, the site has closed the create new account page. I guess it is not so rosy for them either.

Your right Kevin, every time the Seti Site is down or has problems then the Predictor site gets hammered heavily and they don't seem to be able to withstand the onslaught either. Luckily I got a account before they closed it off to new ones, I did get 20 WU's from them last night but it was painfully slow getting them.

I think it was almost 2 hr's from the start of the first download until the finish of it before I could actually start running it.

We aren't kids throwing a tantrum at wallMart because BerkeleyMom refuses to buy us candy.

It's good to remind ourselves we are volunteers in a project and we participate for various reasons.
If some/many choose to do so for their own glory/competitive sense...it's a choice.
We understand the people at Berkeley do their best effort to have things run smoooth asap because they care ( I suspect they also severely lack sleep and weekends off), not because they are a PAID service.
