When I go to the "Your Account" page (when it actually works) with the Opera browser, these messages appear at the top of the page:
------------
Warning: session_start(): Cannot send session cookie - headers already sent by (output started at /disks/koloth/raid5_b/users/boincadm/projects/sah/html/inc/db.inc:20) in /disks/koloth/raid5_b/users/boincadm/projects/sah/html/inc/util.inc on line 30

Warning: session_start(): Cannot send session cache limiter - headers already sent (output started at /disks/koloth/raid5_b/users/boincadm/projects/sah/html/inc/db.inc:20) in /disks/koloth/raid5_b/users/boincadm/projects/sah/html/inc/util.inc on line 30
--------------
The rest of the page appears to be correct/normal.

Using MSIE, those errors do not appear, but this one does (and the rest of the page is completely GONE):
--------------
Unable to select database - please try again laterLost connection to MySQL server during query
--------------

Also: As I'm entering this problem report using Opera, I see that the same (or very similar) messages appear at the top of the "Submit a new question/problem" page, also. MSIE matches the Opera behavior in this case.

The top of the page looks the same as you have described using Internet Explorer too.

MSIE == Microsoft Internet Explorer

Must have just been a short-term glitch that caused the "Unable to select database" error. NOW with MSIE, I get the same results as with Opera: two large warning messages at the top, then the rest of the page is normal.

NOTE that, if I wipe out cookies, then try to go to that page, I get the "You must login" page as expected. But if I login (with MSIE), I get those two larger messages and NOTHING else: all page content is missing.

This is a problem with all browsers. There seems to be a bug in the programming. of the headers on this site. But if you notice, after a moment or two the headers do appear at the top of the page.

Except for the "login" case, the entire remainder of the page DOES load correctly. It's only the extra two warning messages at the top that are bad.

NOTE ALSO: when posting a reply (or editting an existing message) here, the resulting page displays a THIRD warning message, not quite the same as the others:
-------------
Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /disks/koloth/raid5_b/users/boincadm/projects/sah/html/inc/db.inc:20) in /disks/koloth/raid5_b/users/boincadm/projects/sah/html/user/forum_edit.php on line 29
-------------
But the reply is posted/editted correctly.

I was trying to change my General Boinc Preferences (from 1-3 days to 1-2 days) and I recieved ONLY the following 3 errors. The remainder of the page FAILED TO LOAD.

Warning: session_start(): Cannot send session cookie - headers already sent by (output started at /disks/koloth/raid5_b/users/boincadm/projects/sah/html/inc/db.inc:20) in /disks/koloth/raid5_b/users/boincadm/projects/sah/html/inc/util.inc on line 30

Warning: session_start(): Cannot send session cache limiter - headers already sent (output started at /disks/koloth/raid5_b/users/boincadm/projects/sah/html/inc/db.inc:20) in /disks/koloth/raid5_b/users/boincadm/projects/sah/html/inc/util.inc on line 30

Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /disks/koloth/raid5_b/users/boincadm/projects/sah/html/inc/db.inc:20) in /disks/koloth/raid5_b/users/boincadm/projects/sah/html/user/prefs_edit_action.php on line 45

-----------------------------------------

I hope that this is useful to someone... somewhere...

Edit: After submitting the post, I get the 2 line 30 errors and the following:

Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /disks/koloth/raid5_b/users/boincadm/projects/sah/html/inc/db.inc:20) in /disks/koloth/raid5_b/users/boincadm/projects/sah/html/user/forum_reply.php on line 24
------------------------------------------

And the change of time in the general section was successful. (I manually tired to update, and the BOINC client acknowledged my change in preferences.

This problem is server side, so it will appear in all browsers. It is caused by a PHP programming error (some content already sent to clients when attempting to modify session / cookie data). Most likely the berkeley people have implemented it upon tuning of this site.

Looks like they've straightened out the PHP errors. I'm not seeing ANY of those warnings anymore.

Yeh, now if they could just keep enough work available to keep us busy. I have been running SETI Classic for most of the last month because there is no work from the project.

I am doing this edit to check out my signature.
