Why does BOINC want to act as "server" on internet

Hi, I am using Zonealarm as firewall. SETI/BOINC asked to act as "server" on internet. Why? What is the use of that function in BOINC? By not allowing BOINC to act as server, does it create any problem for down/uploading W.U.,? Hazu |

According to a lot of thread on this subject ... You can deny BOINC to act as server in ZoneAlarm. No drawbacks noticed. |
