How do I stop classic and have those units go to the new SETI? Do I have to wait for Dec 15?

There's no way to have boinc pick up and start working on any workunits that are part of the classic side. To not lose any classic work, you could disable the downloading of any new classic workunits and let classic finish and upload any that you have. Once all the classic work is done, it's just a matter of removing/deleting the seti classic stuff, loading up boinc and letting the new adventure begin. I don't know the specifics of how to set classic to 'not get new work', but I've seen a couple posts that say you can create a file with a certain name (someone can probably jump in and tell you the filename that's needed, I don't recall) in the seti classic folder, and if that file is present, classic will not fetch anything new. I used to use the Linux client that had a -commandline switch to disable new work, but that was many months ago and probably different for the Windows version.

Yeah, but I don't like doing things half-assed.

I have left mine running. I figure on 12/15 it will stop getting data and I will use the uninstall in the start menu. 'til then I guess I will still be doing work for them.

"Right now science being done in SETI@home Classic is redundant to the science in SETI@home/BOINC."

What does this mean?

It means that the same exact WU's are being done with Classic that are being done by SETI/BOINC, with one difference. The WU's being done by Classic are not being added and will never be added to the Science Database. They are only being done to help the graceful shutdown of Classic by not suddenly pulling the rug out from under the resistant to change users over at Classic. The Classic WU's being done now are pretty much only good for their "Geek Marble" value. So I'd say unless you have some specific milestone you're trying to get to just switch to SETI/BOINC and just delete Classic from your system as it really doesn't serve any purpose anymore, anyway.

This problem is addressed if you click here .

Please read the whole thread, as I didn't get everything perfect at the first attempt {hey, I'm only human!}. It also addresses other issues, too.

Should solve your problem - then it's "Welcome to BOINC".

As Seti Classic works in higher priority than Boinc, it will not let Boinc work, so if both are running, only Classic will do any work.
