My Daughter is a Severe Diabetic and is 11yrs old. She Asked Make A Wish Foundation to grant her a wish and they did. Her wish was to go to Disney World with her Two Dads! Me the Biological Dad and My Replacement. I could never afford to go on such a trip financially being on a fixed income (disability). I will be away from Monday the 5th to the 10th. I will be taking as many pictures as I can and will share them with you when I get back. I am trying to find a computer that has a DVD to copy my pics on from my digital camera so they wont get destroyed by some unknown forces (X-Ray) Homeland Security etc... Is there someone or someplace in the Orlando that I can copy my pics to DVD. Even with Make A Wish help. I won't have allot of funds to pays rental fees. If you know of anyone that can help me out? Mike Mike Thank you! I use compact Flash Cards 256 to 1gig in size, So if you dont have the CF Port a USB is fine and I'll bring the connection. A DVD writer and I'll bring the DVD's.... Then show it to the security guard and say it is fragile electronic equipment for your digital camera that stores pictures on it, that can be erased by X-Rays. They can then hand check it for you to make sure that it isn't one of those exploding flash memory sticks or something. In fact flash memory might not even be effected by X-Rays. In addition, flash memory cards are not affected by the new, high-security X-ray machines used in airports today. I repeat Flash memory should not be effected by X-Ray machines. If you are carrying a notebook computer or digital camera they shouldn't be harmed by the x-ray machine. However, if you want to be sure, you can request a manual inspection. If you do so, you may be asked to turn them on to prove they work, so be sure you have charged batteries in them. Apple Computer reports that The American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) concluded that memory devices, including audio and video tapes and floppy disks, could take 1000 million passes through the machine before any damage would be evident. Also: Don't put anything valuable in checked baggage. Not only do some airline staff steal, especially from soft-sided luggage they can "frisk" (I'm not sure why this isn't a bigger issue with airline management), but they are now using x-ray machines to locate explosives that are powerful enough to fry eggs. You're personally a lot safer as a result, but film can be affected, especially film with a high ISO. There is no evidence that magnetic media or flash cards are affected in any way. High ISO regular film may be a problem, but not apparently magnetic or flash memory devices. I Planned on having it hand inspected irregardless of the X-Rays. I had wrote a longer responce my puter decided it didn't want to work that hard..... Again thanks all.... ID: 201597 ·
