I like Berkely (birthplace of 'free speech' and the freedom of information movement), but don't like the team handling this project.

I'm sure it will get better 'soon'... but really have lost interest.

I'm going back to 'Folding' unless there is another steller type project that DOESN"T require my constant attention and 'retry, retry, retry, retry' input to insure WU availabilty.

Afraid to say I'm no longer interested in this (obviously ALIEN) attempt to guage the LIMITS of human patience, tolerance, and what Humans consider an 'acceptable amount of information'.

'They' recommend we have alternate projects in case WUs become unavailable, but I can't find a link anywhere except 'predicter'... which also appears to have multiple 'beta-test' type problems.

BOINC doesn't require such a thing. Just leave it alone, and it will eventually get and process your WUs. I did just that, and this morning I noticed that overnight it downloaded and processed half a dozen WUs.

Most of our technical effort over the past year has been focused on ramping up SETI@home II, which involves an entirely new client/server architecture we are developing called BOINC. BOINC has been in alpha/beta test for a while now, and we're hoping to release an early version soon. The bottom line is we are currently running two SETI@home-sized projects on the same amount of hardware that up until recently ran just one project. This is difficult to say the least, but BOINC's flexible server architecture and several recent hardware donations from our major sponsors are making for a smoother transition.

I can truthfully say that I have all my machines busily computing their little hearts out (BOINCING) with no performance or other obvious glitches!
This is my contribution to the project.
Some extra $ in hardware for the project platform would also clearly make a difference but until that is forthcoming we should be pleased to help as best we can.
