Even when my friends call to tell me BOINC is again giving out units I can't get any. After the usual Cache low-water mark hit; requesting more work then the seconds asked for, I get these messages: Sending request to scheduler: http://setiboincdata.ssl.berkeley.edu/sah_cgi/cgi Scheduler RPC to http://setiboincdata.ssl.berkeley.edu/sah_cgi/Cgi failed No schedulers responded. I get this series when BOINC is up and when it is down. In the past when down I got a message it was down. Not any more - just this No schedulers responded. Just minutes before others in my group got units. I've been dead over a week now without getting a single unit. I figured it was due to the new version 3.20 as I was using 3.19 but nope, installing that didn't help. Note that these messages come nearly instantly. There is no wait or only a second or so if that to see if a scheduler responded. Am I holding my tongue wrong? Rick |

I also havn't received any WU's for over a week. I run Predictor as well so at least my computer has something to do, although Predictor was down for a few days last week too. I have my resource share for Seti set at 100 & Predictor at 1, yet I have recieved far more Predictor credits than seti credits. I hope they get there problems sorted out soon because this is getting annoying. |

Yes that was the URL. It worked until about a week ago. Then suddenly all I got was the above message and no units ever came after that. Some days before "the end" I got a message that I had to detach and reattach using a different URL or just click "Update" I clicked "Update" and it worked fine for several more days, then nothing. If the no schedulers reply message is coming instantly it is probably a communications error on your end, it should normally take 30 seconds to a minute to time out. Check firewall/proxy settings. Also try restarting the computer. John Keck BOINCing since 2002/12/08 |

But for the first few tries I was still getting that same old almost instantaneous "No schedulers found" message. I guess I figured out the right way to hold my tongue. I changed nothing between the time it didn't and then did work, nor did I reboot. It has to be my tongue position. Also, when I last got units they all had a 21:36 computation time instead of the 3:21 they used to have. Now I'm back to getting 3:21 hour units again. 3:21 is close to correct. Most take less time but only 10 or 15 minutes less. Sure beats that 21:36 time that screwed up the cache. To those that suggested a firewall problem that wasn't it. I use Zone Alarm and it was always correctly configured. I did have to reauthorize it for BOINC when I switched to V3.20 but did nothing when it suddenly decided to work. Rick |
